Ernest Bevin College offers a broad curriculum to ensure that all students in the Sixth Form have as much choice as possible when selecting courses. It is organised into 4 tiers based on the needs of our students.
Courses on offer at Key Stage 5
EBC Sixth Form offers a wide range of Level 2 &3 courses aimed to cater to a wide range of prior ability students. These courses aim to prepare Sixth Form students for university, apprenticeships or work.
GCSE requirements vary but A Level subjects are suitable for students whose GCSE grades are mostly 5 or better including English and Maths.
BTEC National Qualifications (Level 3)
GCSE requirements vary but please note Level 3 BTEC courses now place much greater demands on learners, and the grades required to get onto these courses will include a high 4 or 5 in English & Maths
BTEC National Qualifications (Level 2)
The Level 2 courses listed below are suitable for students who may not get the grades to study the Level 3 BTECs. These will run alongside the A Levels and Level 3 BTECS we have always offered in the Sixth Form.
Vocational Learning Tier
These Level 2 qualifications are two year courses. They are equivalent to 4 GCSEs. They are coursework based and have no examinations.
EPQ Extended Project Qualification (Level3)
The Extended Project must develop and extend one or more of a learner’s study areas and/or from an area of personal interest or activity outside their main programme of study. It has to be based on a topic chosen by the learner. This is worth half an A level and is graded A* to E. All students will complete either an Extended Project or an ASDAN CoPE Level 2 or 3 award (see below).
