We aim to make students aware of the importance of healthy eating and adopting a healthy lifestyle particularly through sporting participation.
From April 2021 the cost of a main hot meal is £2.60 a day. Baguettes, pasta pots and soup are also available at competitive prices. Click on the link above and the menu will open in a new window. At Ernest Bevin College we use ParentMail +Pay to enable parents to pay for food, trips and other items using their website, mobile phone app, or use the large network of PayPoint locations in convenience stores and supermarkets around the country.
Parents joining the college will be given a log in and information about how to set up an account.
College meals are provided by Edwards & Ward caterers who prepare food on site that fulfills all current Government requirements for healthy living. A choice of hot meals (including a vegetarian option) are served daily as well as baguettes, pasta, soup and baked potatoes. All meat is Halal. There is a also a food service at break time where students can buy healthy snacks and drinks.
We operate a cashless biometric system to pay for meals to make the dinner service as speedy as possible.
EBC offers a free Breakfast Club for all pupiols from 8-8.30am by the Pupil Entrance with the support of the Magic Breakfast Club. Pupils are given a healthy breakfast of bagels, cereal and fruti juice. Research has shown that eating a healthy breakfast improves pupil concentration in lessons.
Pupils are welcome to bring a packed lunch; this should be eaten in the lunch hall. Jugs of water are available for pupils to help themselves to cups of water free of charge. We encourage families to provide healthy packed lunches. Pupils should not bring in sweets, sugary foods, chewing gum, fizzy drinks or energy drinks particularly those with a high caffeine content as part of the college’s commitment to Healthy Eating.
